EAST JORDAN — The Martha Wagbo Farm & Education Center will offer a presentation on wild harvesting native teas.
The program starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the education center, 5745 N. M-66. Participants will learn to identify and harvest various evergreens for brewing winter teas, take a snowshoe hike, sip gentle infusions and make a tea garland for brewing. They should bring their own snowshoes.

LEELANAU COUNTY — The Zonta Club of Leelanau County is seeking candidates for the “Young Women in Public Affairs” awards program. Applications must be postmarked by March 17.
The club will award three scholarships to young women who are Leelanau County residents, June 2014 high school graduates and who will attend college/technical school during the 2014-15 school year. The awards recognize a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, volunteer leadership achievements, involvement in student or local government and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Michael’s Place event
TRAVERSE CITY — Michael’s Place will host a Welcome Night for grieving families and individuals today, Feb. 18.
The orientation will be hosted from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Michael’s Place, 1144 Boon St. Attendees will be able to meet the staff and volunteers and learn about the programs and services offered. Kidz Art also will be on hand with a planned activity for children of all ages.

ARCADIA — Registration continues through Sunday, Feb. 23, for children ages 8 to 18 interested in singing with the Manistee Benzie Area Children’s Chorus of Arcadia.
Voice placement appointments will be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 24-25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 17191 Third St. All children who schedule and attend a voice placement session and are willing to participate in the chorus season will be accepted. Weekly rehearsals are from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Mondays starting March 3. The season closes with a concert on Saturday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
