Halloween fun

Petoskey — Fun, food and activities await children and adults on Saturday, October 27.

Children are invited to walk in a Halloween Parade. Line-up is at 9:45 a.m. at Central Elementary School. The 10 a.m. parade goes from the school, down Howard Street to Pennsylvania Park. They also can pick up a passport at the start of the parade for the C.S. Lewis Festival Halloween Narnia reading and coloring activities from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Perry Hotel, trick or treat at downtown stores marked with trick-or-treating posters 10 a.m.-noon, and sample foods 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Grain Train's Spooky Co-op Kid's Tasting.

The library will offer a Halloween edition of Saturday's Child Story Hour for elementary-age kids from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This is not recommended for very young and/or impressionable children.

Adult activities include a progressive dinner 6-9 p.m. at five downtown restaurants. Tickets are $50 each; call 622-8501. Ghost Walk tours start at 7 p.m. at 216 Park Ave. Tickets are $5 in advance only at downtown offices or by calling 622-8501.

Dumpsite clean up

Benzie County — Volunteers will learn about the history of the Arcadia Dunes Preserve and the dumpsite cleanup at an Arcadia Dunes Dump Clean Up event.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Grasslands parking area to carpool to the dump site. For details, directions or if planning to participate, visit or call 929-7911.

Wild Rose concert

Frankfort — The Wild Rose Society will host a concert Sunday, Oct. 28, at the First Congregational Church.

The 3 p.m. performance features Jeanmarie Riccobono on clarinet, Joan and David Holland on harp and viola, and Jean and Michael Coonrod on cello and piano. Donations will be accepted for the society's scholarship program.
