Women's program

Traverse City — The annual meeting of the Women's History Project of Northwest Michigan will includee a program on the League of Women Voters, which emerged after passage of the 19th Amendment in 1919 giving women the vote. Reservations are due Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. The program will be presented by principal players from the first League of Women Voters in costume. Artist reception

Bellaire — Parkside Arts Council will hold an artist reception for Bellaire artist Ken Thomas from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Parkside Arts Council Gallery, 202 N Bridge St. For details, call 357-1543 or visit www.parksidearts.org.

Sci-Fi double feature

Traverse City — InsideOut Gallery's Cocktail Cinema will feature a science fiction double feature on Thursday, Oct. 25.

"Them" (1954) will be shown from 6 to 7:45 p.m., followed by "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956) from 8:30 to 9:50 p.m. at the gallery, 229 Garland St. Admission and popcorn are free.

Fun at the museum

Acme — The Music House Museum will hold a benefit dinner and concert and host a screening of "The Kiss" starring Greta Garbo.

The "Pizza and Pipes" fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, and features gourmet pizza and a concert by internationally known organist Fr. Andrew Rogers. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for ages 12 and younger. Proceeds benefit the museum's Mortier Organ restoration project. Reservations are required.

Garbo's 1929 silent film "The Kiss" will be shown at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Fr. Rogers will provide accompaniment on the museum's Wurlitzer organ. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens. Reservations are recommended.
