TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD), in collaboration with the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and TBA Credit Union, is seeking nominations from the community and school districts in the five-county region for outstanding educators and educational support staff.
Outstanding Educator Awards are presented annually to teachers, administrators and school support staff who make outstanding contributions toward the education of students throughout the five-county Traverse Bay region. Nominees should have a minimum of five years of experience in education, contribute to the academic success of students, and work collaboratively with educators throughout the TBAISD service area toward the regional vision to be the best educational system in the world. Nominations must include a letter of support from the nominee’s supervisor as well as supporting documents from parents and students. Nominations are due Friday, April 12.

SUTTONS BAY — The Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) will hold a one-day training session for anyone interested in becoming a schoolship instructor.
Two options are available. Sessions will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, or Tuesday, April 16, at the Inland Seas Education Center. No prior experience is needed. ISEA will provide materials and information needed to be a successful schoolship instructor.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Commission on Aging will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Commission office, 520 W. Front St. The public is invited. For details, call 922-4688.
TRAVERSE CITY — The Peepers preschool program at the Boardman River Nature Center will offer weekly programs in April.
The program meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the nature center, 1450 Cass Road, and includes both indoor and outdoor activities. It is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 and an adult. The cost is $5 per child.
