Murder, homicide, assassination, butchery, massacre, slaughter. What do you think of when you hear these words?
Most of you probably think of killing; the killing of a human. I bet most of you don't think about the killing of a baby as it relates to those words.
Abortion is the intentional killing of a human, a baby, a child.
In 1994, 800,000 people were killed in the Rwandan genocide in three months. In the Holocaust, six million Jews died as a result of Nazi persecution. From 1992-1995, 200,000 people died in the war in Bosnia. Since 2003, 255,000 to 400,000 people have died in Darfur, and they're still counting.
What do all of these genocides have in common? In each, the U.S. government eventually took a stand and said this was wrong and the killing had to stop. Yet approximately 3,700 babies in the U.S., and 126,000 babies worldwide are killed each day as a result of abortion. Abortion worldwide kills more people every two months than the Holocaust did in 12 years.
The following quote is from Nancy Grace, CNN news reporter, reporting on a case where an 18-year-old girl delivered a baby in her dorm room bathroom, wrapped it in a plastic bag and left it in the bathtub to die.
"You can deny pregnancy, you can lie to your friends, your family, your work. Don`t care. In fact, under our law, you can go get an abortion if you don`t want a kid. It`s legal. But homicide is not."
So she is saying that a woman can go get an abortion and that's legal, but homicide is not legal. Let's review the definition of homicide, as defined by dictionary.com. Homicide is the killing of one human being by another. If the mother knows she is going to kill her child and the abortionist knows what the outcome will be, then how is abortion not homicide? Abortion IS homicide.
Another quote stated:
"If she wanted to get an abortion, that is her business. In that jurisdiction, that is not a crime. But to give birth, and then kill the baby, that's a crime."
So a woman can go get an abortion and it's not called a crime; but to give birth to a baby and then kill it, that's a crime. I wonder, what's the difference? Each year, 210 million pregnancies occur worldwide. Of these 210 million, 46 million women will have abortions. Unbelievably, one out of four Americans is killed by abortion. What if a child aborted today would have grown up to be the next president, or to find a cure for cancer, or to cure AIDS?
I think about all the different organizations for abused animals, like "Save the Whales" and I can't help but wonder, why is there such an uproar about these causes, but not about abortion? Why is it so socially unacceptable to support causes for the life of a human being?
I think about all the people that say "bring home our soldiers" and "stop the needless killing." Well, are these some of the same people that call themselves pro-choice? Yes, they want to stop needless killing in wars, but then they support a cause that allows a woman to kill her own unborn child. There is a war every day in our country between society and unborn babies.
What would cause a mother to kill her own child? Ninety-three percent of all abortions occur for social reasons; either the child is unwanted or inconvenient. You or I wouldn't kill another adult just because they were annoying or inconvenient, so why would a pregnant woman kill her child? It just pains me to think that mothers would kill their babies because the time was "inconvenient."
When I look at my brother, I see a young boy that is full of life and embracing every bit of it. I couldn't imagine life without my brother. Sure, we have our differences, as do most siblings, but I love him unconditionally. I don't know what I would do if anything ever happened to him.
I remember the day when my parents told me that I was going to get a baby brother. I was so excited, I would finally get to help take care of a baby!
Well, what if I wouldn't have had that chance? What if my brother weren't here right now? What if my mom had chosen abortion? I can't even imagine it.
I want to leave you with a little bit of wisdom from Mother Teresa. She said, "I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is war against the child, murder by the mother herself."
I believe Mother Teresa couldn't have been more right on this one. Abortion is the greatest destroyer of human life.
The sooner we can realize this and take a stand for life, the faster we will stop abortion.
