Pedestrian hit and killed on US 31

TRAVERSE CITY — An Interlochen woman was struck by a car and killed.

The incident occurred Thursday at about 11 p.m. The victim, 33, was walking in the westbound lane of U.S. 31 near Melody Lane in Green Lake Township when a vehicle driven by a Traverse City woman, 19, struck her, authorities said.

Grand Traverse County sheriff's Capt. Dave Meachum said investigators believe the victim was walking in the middle of the road.
