Parolee faces sex crime charge

TRAVERSE CITY — A Traverse City man who is on parole is accused of sexually assaulting another parolee after he gave her a ride to a drug screening.

Adam Devere Dixon, 39, faces an 86th District Court warrant on a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, a misdemeanor.

Court documents state a 34-year-old woman told authorities that Dixon drove her home from a drug screening on Sept. 21, but took an unusual route before stopping the car and jumping on her. She said Dixon kissed her and forced sexual contact during the brief encounter.

A sheriff’s deputy tracked Dixon’s vehicle’s route using GPS through an ignition interlock device and found it matched the victim’s story.

Court records show Dixon pleaded no contest to second-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2010. The case involved a 12-year-old female victim.

Dixon, a registered sex offender, also is charged as a habitual offender, meaning if convicted he could face twice the normal two-year maximum prison sentence.
