Visions of sugarplums

The Manistee Art Institute opens its biannual student art show, "Visions of Sugar Plums," with a show in Hardy Hall at the Ramsdell Center for the Arts. It's one of many events during Manistee's Victorian Sleighbell Weekend, which also includes a performance of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" at the Ramsdell Theater today through Sunday and Dec. 7-9. Quilt raffle

The Mills Community House in Benzonia, home to the Benzonia Public Library and Benzie County Players, is raffling an antique quilt as a fundraiser for building renovations. The drawing is during Saturday's Holiday Art Fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. For raffle information, call 889-0591.

Suttons Bay holidays

The Suttons Bay Holiday Festival runs today through Sunday, with a holiday stroll today from 5 to 8 p.m. Family Day Saturday offers a $1 family-friendly movie at the Bay Theater at 1 p.m., Inland Seas Education Association activities from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and Santa lighting the Village Tree starting at 5 p.m. Sunday brings Antlers & Elves at Enerdyne and Brainstorm, a Christmas concert at 3 p.m.

Concert weekend

Northwestern Michigan College's Community Band will perform traditional holiday music today at 8 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium. On Saturday, the NMC Children's Choir presents Christmas songs from around the world at 2 p.m. in Lars Hockstad Auditorium. The NMC Jazz Bands perform Saturday at 8 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium.

Songs of season

The Leelanau Community Choir presents a variety of seasonal songs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Leland's Immanuel Lutheran Church and on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Suttons Bay Congregational Church and 7 p.m. in Glen Arbor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Call 271-6091.

Messiah Sing

The 34th annual Messiah Sing is at Central Church in Traverse City is Sunday at 4 p.m. Call 946-5191.
