Advent thoughts

Traverse City — The Centering Prayer Community at Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington St., will offer an Advent contemplative quiet time from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. There will be scripture Readings and Taize singing led by Grace Harmony along with time for silence and meditation. Call 947-2330 for details.

Holiday exhibit

Elk Rapids — Antique and vintage toys and games will be featured in the Elk Rapids Historical Society's holiday exhibit "Treasures from the Toy Chest."

The exhibit may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays from Dec. 1 through Jan. 6 at the museum, 301 Traverse St. A $5 donation for adults is suggested. Children are admitted at no charge.

Cookies galore

Suttons Bay — The Suttons Bay Bingham Friendship Center's Cookie Extravaganza will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the friendship center, 201 Broadway. Shoppers may make their own assortment for $7 a pound. For details, call Mary Bush, 271-4404.

Watershed art

Traverse City — Winners of a photography contest sponsored by the Watershed Center will be part of the next Art of the Watershed exhibit.

Cookies and Santa

Traverse City — The Northern Michigan Cultural Center and White Tiger Martial Arts will hold an International Cookie Sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at White Tiger Martial Arts, 545 E. Eighth St. Santa will be on hand to visit with children.
