Band blood drive

TRAVERSE CITY — A Michigan Blood blood drive today, Aug. 16, will help fund Central High School Marching Band’s trip to Orlando, Fla., in March.

The drive will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. in Central High School’s small gym. Donors should enter off Eastern Avenue. The band will receive $10 for every person who donates, with band members who bring in donors receiving $5 and the band receiving $5.

Festival on Bay

PETOSKEY — Petoskey will host its 11th annual Festival on the Bay today and Saturday, Aug. 16-17.

Activities take place along the bay front from the Arboretum and the Little Traverse Wheelway to Festival Place and the Bear River. There will be music in the entertainment tent, activities for kids in the children’s area and more.

Festival buttons are $5 and include weekend-long admission to the entertainment tent and the children’s area. Admission without a button is $2 per day to the Children’s Area and $5 per day to the entertainment tent.

Bike-In TC film

TRAVERSE CITY — Bike-In TC invites the community to pedal their way to the Village at Grand Traverse Commons for a screening of the 1994 comedy “Dumb and Dumber” starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

The film will be shown at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, on the lawn in front of Building 50. Bicyclists are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. An FM radio is recommended for audio. Admission is free, but donations to support this and future films are appreciated.

Fundraiser

FIFE LAKE — The Walton Junction Sportsman’s Club will serve breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the club, 11207 E. County Line Road. The cost is $7 for adults, $2.50 for ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.
