Defendant guilty of two sexual assault charges

TRAVERSE CITY — A Grand Traverse County jury found a Rapid City man guilty of two crimes related to sexual assault, but not guilty of a third charge.

Nathan Haggard, 19, was convicted of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct involving penetration and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 13th Circuit Court on Thursday, court officials said. He was found not guilty of a third charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The guilty convictions stemmed from an incident in May 2012, when Haggard sexually assaulted a girl after a prom.

Circuit Court Judge Philip Rodgers scheduled a sentencing hearing for Aug. 12.
