Detroit man drowns in Leelanau County waters

GLEN ARBOR — A Detroit man became the third drowning death in the Lake Michigan waters off Leelanau County.

Dylan Curtis Bailey, 24, died Thursday after he was found unresponsive in Sleeping Bear Bay off Old Homestead Road. Four teenagers saw Bailey swim into the bay and later yell in distress roughly 600 feet from shore. One witness dragged the swimmer back to shore but attempts to resuscitate him failed.

Leelanau Undersheriff Steve Morgan said Bailey was visiting Leelanau County with two friends from the Detroit area.
