Music festival

TRAVERSE CITY — The Bayside Festival begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Open Space with six performers. Headlining the family-friendly show will be Peter Furler.

The festival will continue Sunday with six more performances beginning at 5:30 p.m., including Williamsburg native Jessica Hoover at 7 p.m. and Tenth Avenue North at 8:30.

The show, sponsored by a consortium of local churches, is free and families are encouraged to attend. For more information, go to

Exhibit of landscapes

GLEN ARBOR — Grand Rapids artist Jeff Condon will exhibit a collection of his landscapes at Center Gallery at Lake Street Studios, 6023 S. Lake St.

The exhibit, titled “Beauty of the Earth,” will open Friday with a reception at 6 p.m. It will be on display through Thursday. Call 334-3179 for details.

Brethren Days here

BRETHREN — Brethren Days will be celebrated Friday through Sunday.

Most activities will take place at Dickson Township Park on East Coates Highway. The celebration opens at 7 p.m. Friday with music by the Brian Nolf Band. The Cook Shack and Beer Tent both will be open until 11 p.m.

Activities on Saturday start with softball at 8 a.m. and include fireworks at dusk over Lake Elinor. The beer tent will remain open until 1 a.m.

Brethren Days continues from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday with church services, softball, a Grand Parade at 4 p.m. and more.

Dunes restoration

EMPIRE — A Great Lakes Restoration Celebration will be hosted from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Dune Climb entrance to the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail.

The event includes native plantings, weed pulling competitions, themed song and poem contests, commentary recordings for future educational videos and more. There is no charge, however a National Park entrance pass is required. For details, call 326-5235, ext. 328, or visit
