TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City St. Francis JV tennis team opened its season with a dual against Petoskey on Thursday, tying the match 4-4.
At one singles, Brody Ray won 8-6, while Christian Stellin was defeated 3-8 at two singles. Charlie Donahue fought a tough match but was defeated 5-8 at three singles and Tom Jameson lost at four singles 1-8.
In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Jake Muzljakovich and Jon Pax won 8-2. Ryan Grombala and Daniel Harden were victorious at 2 doubles, 8-2. Jonathan Bramer and Paul Koehler won their match at No. 3 doubles, 8-1, and Lucas Tull and Steven Winkler were defeated at 4 doubles, 3-8.
“All the boys played very well and had a great time. They all showed improvement and we’re looking forward to playing our next match,” said first-year coach Dave Wilson. St. Francis’ JV meets the TC Central JV, TC West JV, Glen Lake and Midland Dow JV in an invitational at TC Central Friday.
