Overturn Citizens United

Support S.J.Res.19 and H.J.Res.20 to again allow regulation of campaign spending.

There is no doubt that the Supreme Court’s decisions to allow unfettered outside money to be used in political campaigns has irrevocably changed our democracy. Local elections can now go to the highest bidder without the electorate knowing where the money comes from. We voters are being disenfranchised by the amount of money it takes to run for office as well as the widespread dissemination of political ads.

Please vote for the constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, McCutcheon and Buckley.

Remove the cinder

I appreciate David Watt for his letter to the editor of April 27.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was named by Good Morning America as the most beautiful place in America. Visitors come from all over the United States — from all over the world — to see this beautiful spot that is in our backyards. When the Homestead Resort uses this National Park to release partially treated wastewater, and puts signage for visitors not to use that area, it is a small negative dot on our visitor’s experience. When one has a cinder in one’s eye, it is a small dot, but it feels like a log in one’s eye, and hinders one’s vision.

Let’s treat wastewater and dispose of it properly.
