Prep Sports Roundup: Lake Leelanau St. Mary sweeps Sabres

LAKE LEELANAU — Lake Leelanau St. Mary pulled out a pair of one-run victories to sweep Traverse City Christian on Thursday, 11-10 and 6-5.

Collin Platts had two hits and an RBI and picked up the win in the opener. John VanRaalte had a home run among his two hits, driving in three runs and picking up the save. Dan Bardenhagen added two hits.

Grant Maurer hit a two-run homer for Christian, and Jacob Rorick had two hits.

In the nightcap, Bardenhagen struck out eight, adding a double among two hits at the plate. Platts and VanRaalte both had two hits, and Tristan Peabody cracked a home run.

Dennis Alekseyenko had two hits and scored two runs for the Sabres (5-4).

TC West 13

Ogemaw Hts 5

Traverse City West erupted for eight runs in the top of the 10th to beat Ogemaw Heights 13-5 in a Big North Conference game.

Wes Talbot, who pitched the last five innings without allowing an earned run, gained the win. Keegan Kenny, the starting pitcher, led the Titans with three hits and four RBIs. Max Ludka added three hits and two RBIs. Paul Soma also had three hits while Talbot had two.

East Jordan 2 8

TC Central 1 10

Ethan Campbell collected three hits and Alex Conz, Logan Briggs and Zach Bohrer two each as Traverse City Central defeated East Jordan 10-8 in the second of two games.

Briggs drove in three runs. David Klug picked up the win.

East Jordan won the opener 2-1.

MC Central 8 8

Suttons Bay 6 3

Aaron Orban went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the first game, then added an RBI double in the second game, but Suttons Bay was swept by Mason County Central, 8-6 and 8-3.

Zack Rice took the loss in the opener, allowing seven hits and fanning two. Cody Herman allowed five hits and fanned four in the game two loss.
