Copper reported stolen from business

WILLIAMSBURG — Authorities are investigating the theft of a 200-pound copper coil from a local oil services company.

The owner of Kinnco Services, 8636 M-72 East, told the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Department a thief likely used the business’ forklift to steal the heavy coil, which is valued at $5,300.

Kinnco Services was left unlocked when the coil went missing.

Authorities plan to check with local scrap yards, Capt. Randy Fewless said.

Kinnco Services is the only business in Michigan that uses the particular coil, the owner told deputies. It’s used in the oil industry on a pipe inspection device.
