Cherry Fest Volunteers: Dennis Brown

It takes a community to bring the festival to life. Dennis Brown from Grawn started working for the National Cherry Festival two years ago when he accepted an internship while a student at Michigan Tech. As an operations intern he planned the layout of the festival and considered traffic flow throughout the event. This year he worked at the festival warehouse managing the shipments of larger items to and from the festival spaces.

"I appreciate the volunteers, the great group of people who come out to help with the festival," he said. "Locals complain about the traffic and trash that comes with it, but they don't see the 2,000 volunteers that come out to bring it all together. It's a great sense of camaraderie."

Brown also volunteered at the Kids' Sand Sculpture Contest and handed out free samples of GoGo Squeeze, an all-natural fruit snack, to guests of the many children's events throughout the festival.
