Four charged after meth bust at Traverse City motel

---- — TRAVERSE CITY – Four people have been charged with crimes tied to a suspected methamphetamine production operation that police discovered at a local motel.

Traverse Narcotics Team officers searched a room at Shadowland Motel on Munson Avenue on Dec. 3 and located several materials for manufacturing meth, according to a police report.

Michigan State Police were tipped to possible drug activity there in late November by witnesses who said meth had been made in the motel room early that month. A witness said people planned to receive disability funds and continue to rent the room for a month.

The room was rented to two people who witnesses said produced the illicit stimulant. The suspects were identified in the police report as Jared Allan Blaha, 35, and Sheila Jane Nelson, 39.

Two people, Lonna Joyce Fisk, 37; and Brandon Edward James Wabanimkee, 31, were located when police searched the room.

The four face felony drug charges. Blaha and Wabanimkee are from Traverse City. Fisk is from Grawn, and Nelson is from Cadillac.

Only Wabanimkee has been arrested and arraigned. Court records show he is held on $50,000 cash bond. A preliminary examination is scheduled for March 11.
