Pumpkins in Park

ELK RAPIDS — Seventh and eighth grade art students at Cherryland Middle School painted dozens of pumpkins, which are on display at the Walk of Art sculpture park.

The students’ creations will be on view through Thanksgiving at the Walk of Art in Day Park on South Bay Shore Drive. Although the vehicle gate to the park is closed for the season, visitors can angle-park outside the fence and use the pedestrian gate.

Nutrition class

TRAVERSE CITY — The “Food for Life: The Power of Food to Kickstart Your Health” nutrition and cooking class will be offered in Traverse City.

The class will meet from 6:30-8:15 p.m. five Mondays, Nov. 4-Dec. 2, at 740 Centre Place. It focuses on the 21-day plant-based Kickstart program from the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine.

The $75 cost includes nutritional information, food demonstrations and samples. For details or to register, visit

Wellness programs

TRAVERSE CITY — Performance Chiropractic will offer a variety of wellness programs during November.

Dr. Julie Brons will give a program titled “Feeding Your Family” on Thursday, Nov. 7. Dr. Don Piche will give a program titled “Creating Health” on Nov. 13 and one titled “Surviving the Seasons ... of Stress” on Monday, Nov. 25. In addition, Angelo Agon will share information on detoxification on Nov. 21.

All programs start at 6:15 p.m. at Performance Chiropractic, 551 S. Garfield Ave., suite B. There is no charge and the public is welcome. Reservations are requested; call 922-0110.

Educational series

GAYLORD — Guest speaker Denny Crabill, health food store manager at Jo Jo’s Natural Market, will talk about “Diet Lifestyles: What About Supplements, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free and Other Alternative Diets?” at the next Educational Breakfast Series meeting sponsored by the Otsego County Commission on Aging.

The breakfast meeting will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the University Center, room 111-112, 80 Livingston Blvd. The $5 suggested donation at the door includes breakfast. Reservations are requested; call (989) 748-4068 or email
