‘Pure A Cappella’

TRAVERSE CITY — Canticum Novum and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, both from Northwestern Michigan College, will share the spotlight with seasoned a cappella performers at the third annual “Pure A Cappella Showcase.”

The showcase starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. The program will feature a cappella music ranging from jazz and doo wop to traditional barbershop and folk.

Proceeds benefit programs of guest choirs as well as Northwestern Michigan Children’s Choir by providing scholarships for NMC participants in grades two through nine.

Mel Larimer Concert

TRAVERSE CITY — The Mel Larimer Concert Series will present the Hope College Chapel Choir from Holland, Mich.

The choir will perform traditional choral music, folk songs and vocal jazz at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road.

‘Suds & Snow’ event

TRAVERSE CITY — TimberRidge Resort will host its eighth annual Suds & Snow event on Saturday.

The event will be held from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at TimberRidge, 4050 E. Hammond Road.

There will be live music, food, microbrew tasting, a Fat Tire Bike Race, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, the first Suds & Snow Olympics and Wacky Wear contest, and more.

Tickets are $20 in advance; $30 at the door.

The first 500 ticketholders receive a commemorative pint glass. Admission also includes two drink tickets, a trail pass and optional entry into the Suds & Snow Olympics.

Additional drink and food tickets are two for $5. Free shuttles will be provided by Celtic Tours.
