Sunday School

TRAVERSE CITY — Sunday School at Bethlehem Lutheran Church will feature a game day on Sunday, May 26, before it takes a break for the summer.

Games and fellowship for adults and students start at 9:15 a.m. at the church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. In addition, plans are under way for Vacation Bible School Aug. 5-9.

Pancake breakfast

LAKE ANN — The Lake Ann Lions will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 26, at the old Almira Township Hall, downtown Lake Ann. The meal is $6 for adults, $3 for children younger than 12 and free for preschoolers.

Memorial Day

LAKE ANN — Almira Township will hold a Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m., Monday, May 27, at the Lake Ann Cemetery.

Norwood service

NORWOOD — A Memorial Day Service will start at 8:45 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Village of Norwood Cemetery. An open house, hosted by the Norwood Area Historical Society, will follow at the Norwood Schoolhouse/Historical Society Building. For details, visit

Retirees recognized

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools will honor this year’s retiring employees at a celebration Wednesday, May 29, at the Tompkins Boardman Administration Center, 412 Webster St. in the second floor curriculum rooms.

ISEA seminar

SUTTONS BAY — The Inland Seas Education Association will screen the film “Signals for Survival” on Thursday, May 30.

The in-depth study of behavior and communication of the lesser great black-beaked and herring gull will be shown at 7 p.m. at the ISEA. A question and answer session with local ornithologist Dr. Bill Scharf will follow.
