Failed to fact check
A letter headlined “Never apologized” appeared Dec. 11 alleging that Obama is a compulsive liar. The very first example given claims that the president did not apologize in reference to Americans keeping their present healthcare if they like it.
According to factcheck.org in an interview with Chuck Todd of NBC News on Nov. 7, Obama offered this apology to the many Americans who were notified they were losing health plans which they wanted to keep. He stated, “I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me.”
What a shame that Mr. Brugh failed to fact check his own assertions. There is a lesson to be learned here. “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”
As a matter of fact, Pulitzer Prize winning politifact, in an analysis of statements made by both parties during the first four months of Obama’s second term, rated 32 percent of Republican statements to be false or pants-on-fire lies compared to 11 percent of Democratic statements — a 3-1 margin. Too, 54 percent of Democratic statements were rated as mostly or entirely true — compared to 18 percent of Republican statements.
