Variety show

SUTTONS BAY — The Friends of Fine Arts at Suttons Bay Schools’ annual Suttons Bay Variety Show starts at 7 p.m. today at the Suttons Bay Schools auditorium on Elm Street.

Performers on the program include the Suttons Bay school jazz band, a scene from the school’s fall play “Fools” by Neil Simon, student instrumentalists, the Grand Traverse Show Chorus and more. Tickets at the door are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $10 per family.

Musical fireworks

INTERLOCHEN — Traverse Symphony Orchestra musicians and Maestro Kevin Rhodes will create musical fireworks on Sunday.

The performance, back by popular demand, features a fast-paced program of favorite melodies including Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries,” Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain,” and others. The concert starts at 3 p.m. in Corson Auditorium at Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Women’s Winter Tour

SUTTONS BAY — The Women’s Winter Tour, a celebration of chocolate and wine, turns 16 this year.

The “Sweet Sixteen” celebration starts Saturday with a “sweet” shopping day for women hosted by stores in downtown Traverse City and at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons and an evening Sweet Sixteen Dance Party at Little Bohemia with music by the Fresh Fossils.

The main celebration will be held Sunday at Black Star Farms with non-competitive cross country skiing or snowshoeing and a progressive tasting party between three venues each showcasing a unique food and drink experience.

Women are encouraged to carpool and a shuttle will be provided between the Holiday Inn and Black Star Farms, where the event begins and ends.

Registration prices range from $25 to $35 depending on age.
