ONAWAY — Bellaire capped a perfect regular season Thursday with a 53-50 overtime win at Onaway.
The game was tied at 43 after regulation.
Adam Underwood hit a 3-pointer to put the Eagles up one in overtime. Then Hunter Rowe connected on two free throws with five seconds left to make it a three-point game. Onaway missed a last-second 3-point attempt.
“Onaway came to play,” Bellaire coach Stan Sexton said. “They gave us a real hard time.”
James Schrader scored 23 points and Denny Hall 16 for the 20-0 Eagles, who will play the Alba-Ellsworth winner on Wednesday in the Class D district at Ellsworth. Sophomore Hayden Niepoth added nine points and six rebounds. Bellaire went 19-0 in the regular season last year.
Joe O’Bradovich had 22 points and four assists for Onaway (15-5), which faces Wolverine on Monday in the Class D district at Hillman. Carlos Bautista added 11 points and nine rebounds and Joe Sigsby 10 points. Onaway was 2 of 9 at the foul line in the fourth quarter.
