Deputies make arrests in 7-Eleven theft

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies arrested suspects accused of stealing a “Meals on Wheels” donation jar from a Garfield Township convenience store.

Authorities asked for the public’s help identifying three suspects — two men and a woman — in the Feb. 2 theft at the Barlow Street 7-Eleven. The thieves took cash, lottery tickets and the jar itself in the two-stage larceny.

Detectives believed the thieves previously performed the same type of theft in January.

Grand Traverse County prosecutors will weigh charges against suspects after community tips, including two by a smartphone app, led to the arrests.
