Hometown musician comes back to jam

Ryan Maloney is now living, playing in Vegas

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- Former Traverse City resident Ryan Maloney returns for a "hometown party and jam" Sunday at the Loading Dock.

Currently living in Las Vegas, Maloney will be joined by special guest Holly Bonino on violin. The show starts at 9 p.m.; cover charge is $3.

A multi-instrumentalist, Maloney plays guitar, bass, drums, violin, cello, piano and sings. He self-produced an album when he was 16, shortly before he moved to Traverse City.

While he was living here, he produced two more albums, performed in a variety of gigs, opened for national acts, played celebrity parties (Kid Rock, Michael Moore) and played benefits for Third Level.

His band, Indulge, relocated to Boston, where they won a battle of the bands; they then moved to Vegas, where they've been recording and playing regionally, usually performing a variety of country, jazz, R&B, pop and rock.

Recently, however, Maloney has been gaining interest as a "goth-country" solo act. He describes his new sound as "edgy yet easily digestible music."
