Artful retreat

suttons bay — Black Star Farms is holding an Artful Retreat on March 10.

A combined affection for wine, art and food will serve as inspiration for a day of creative thinking and personal artistry. Grand Rapids artist Stephanie Schlatter will lead a three-hour wine and art class to be followed by creating a farm to table artisan meal with Executive Chef Jonathan Dayton and Pastry Chef Stephanie Wiitala.

During the Art and Wine session with Schlatter, participants will sip their way through samples of six wines and expand their knowledge of the creative process. Each wine will be recorded on paper and six souvenir art pieces will be created as guests get their fingers into the fine art of "hands on" tasting.

From 3 to 5 p.m., participants will be able to rest at the inn, explore the farm property or visit the on-site tasting room. A hospitality hour from 5 to 6 p.m. in the inn's Pegasus Lounge offers appetizers and select Black Star wines. A Wine & Cooking Seminar and dinner runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
