Cooking Light says TC is best adventure

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City is named a “Best American Food Adventure” in the July issue of Cooking Light magazine.

Listed as “must-visit” restaurants for their “homegrown and rustic yet worldly and sophisticated” dishes are The Cooks’ House and Trattoria Stella. The Village Commons, Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery, Left Foot Charley and 2 Lads Winery also get nods.

Pancake supper is June 26 in Arcadia

ARCADIA — The Pleasant Valley Community Center in Arcadia will hold a pancake supper on Wednesday, June 26, at 6 p.m.

The menu will include four varieties of pancakes, plus waffles, eggs, sausage links, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Ice cream sundaes will be served for dessert.

Suggested donations are $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Training sessions help keep kitchens safe

TRAVERSE CITY — NMC Training Services is sponsoring the region’s first Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point training in Traverse City on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 25 and 26.

The two-day training and certification course provides instruction in HACCP principles, prerequisite programs, and food safety related hazards. Participants who pass the exam on day two will receive HACCP manager certification.
