Pumpkin pie contest

EAST JORDAN — A pumpkin pie contest is part of the Saturday East Jordan Pumpkin Festival.

Registration and pie drop off is from 2-2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park, with judging from 2:30-2:45 p.m.

Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. in the bandshell. The contest is sponsored by Save-a-Lot of East Jordan.

Breakfast served

FIFE LAKE — The Walton Junction Sportsman’s Club will serve breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday at the club, 11207 E. County Line Road. Prices are $7 for adults, $2.50 for ages 5-11, and free for children 4 and younger.

Garden workshop

KALKASKA — Klumpp Flower Shop will offer a free Fairy Garden Workshop and pumpkin carving class on Saturday.

The workshop and class will both meet from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the flower shop, 210 N. Cedar St. Fairy Garden Workshop participants may bring their own containers or purchase one at the shop.

Gourd carving demo

KINGSLEY — Pat Harrison, “Lord of the Gourd,” will give a gourd-carving demonstration from 3:30-6 p.m. Oct. 24, at the Kingsley Branch of the Traverse Area District Library, 213 S. Brownson.

The demonstration is free and open to the public.

Chili cook-off

ALDEN — With A Little Help From My Friends will sponsor a chili cook-off to benefit its Pet Crisis Center.

Antrim County chefs and restaurants will donate their chili for an all-you-can-eat dinner and judging from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Helena Township Hall, 8751 Helena Road. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and younger. They will be available at the door only. There also will be a bake sale and silent auction. For details, visit
