‘Books & Brewskis’

TRAVERSE CITY — The Filling Station Microbrewery at The Depot will host Traverse Area District Library’s “Book Pub” event on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Described as a lively discussion of robust books in a laid-back atmosphere with titles as varied and distinctive as the beer served up, Books & Brewskis will start at 7 p.m. The February book selection is Rachel Bertsche’s “MWF Seeking BFF: My Yearlong Search for a New Best Friend.” The public is welcome. LWVLC energy forum

SUTTONS BAY — The League of Women Voters Leelanau County Energy Committee will sponsor a mini-energy fair and a public forum on energy on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

The event will be held at the Leelanau County Government Center, 8527 E. Government Center. The energy fair will be held from 6-7 p.m. and includes exhibits, brochures and representatives from “green” community businesses and organizations. The “Community Energy Resilience: How Do We Achieve It” forum will be held from 7-9 p.m.

Blues at the Dennos

TRAVERSE CITY — The Deanna Bogart Band will bring its brand of blues fusion to the stage at the Milliken Auditorium on Saturday, March 1.

The award-winning multi-instrumentalist and her band play the best of boogie-woogie, contemporary blues, country and jazz in a blend Bogart calls “blusion.” They will perform at 8 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr.

Mardi Gras at Pearl’s

ELK RAPIDS — American musical legend Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Jr. and his band, Buckwheat Zydeco, will bring Louisiana zydeco music to Pearl’s New Orleans Kitchen for a Mardi Gras celebration on Fat Tuesday, March 4.
