Wine, art and food at August festival

TRAVERSE CITY -- A new festival planned for August will celebrate the region's wine, food and art.

The Traverse City Wine & Art Festival, scheduled for Aug. 22, 5-10 p.m., at the Grand Traverse Commons, will feature wines from more than 20 wineries on the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas and food from Traverse City and Leelanau County restaurants.

This festival will feature full pours of wines; participating restaurants include Silvertree Deli, Underground Cheesecake Co., Red Ginger and Bourbon 72.

A juried art show featuring regional artists showing and selling their work is also planned.
