Suttons Bay — The Leelanau County Democratic Party headquarters, 422 N. St. Joseph St., will hold a grand opening today, Aug. 12.

Antrim talent show
Bellaire — Aspiring performers will compete for cash prizes Saturday, Aug. 18, in "Antrim County's Got Talent," a fundraiser for the Antrim County High Tea for Breast Cancer.
The juried show starts at 8 p.m. at Bellaire High School's Performing Arts Room. Tickets are $8 for adults; $4 for children ages 7-12. They are available at Huntington Bank in Bellaire, and Alden Bank in Bellaire, Alden, Central Lake and Elk Rapids.
George Cole plays
Frankfort — Guitar virtuoso George Cole and his new band, Eurocana, will make two appearances in northerm Michigan.
Cole and his band will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Garden Theater, 301 W. Main St., Frankfort. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Ice Cream Mile
Traverse City — Moomer's Ice Cream Mile is back after a three-year break.
The running and eating event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. at Traverse City Central High School's track. Participants "race" to see who can be the first to both eat a pint of Moomer's ice cream and run a mile on the track. The competition is open to anyone in third grade and up. Spectators are welcome.
