BBQ & Brew fest

GLEN ARBOR — Glen Arbor will kick off the summer season with the Glen Arbor BBQ & Brew Festival.

The event will be hosted from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, under a tent in downtown Glen Arbor. Local restaurateurs and northern Michigan breweries will be on hand with their creations and music for dancing will be provided by Erratixz.

Admission is $15 per person and includes four tickets toward the purchase of food and beverages. For advance admission tickets, visit

Family Fun

TRAVERSE CITY — A new, free family-oriented event will debut Saturday, June 15.

The TC Family Fun Day will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. rain or shine, indoors and outdoors at the TBA Intermediate School District facility at the base of the Village at Grand Traverse Commons hiking trails. Activities include a family hike, games, crafts, a bounce house, face painting, a family photo booth, food, local mascots, prizes, a DJ playing family-friendly music and more.

Funds raised from event sponsorships will benefit the Father Fred Foundation.

Readers Theatre

TRAVERSE CITY — Aged to Perfection, an arm of Old Town Playhouse, will present its next performance of reader’s theatre Wednesday and Thursday, June 19-20.

The ensemble will present two one-act plays, “My Tailor” and “The Ugliest Woman Alive,” and two recitations, “When My Father Carves the Duck” and The Cremation of Sam McGee,” at 7:30 p.m. each night at the Old Town Playhouse Studio Theatre at the Depot at East Eighth Street and Woodmere Avenue. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

Escorts sought

MANISTEE — Rolling Thunder is looking for vehicles to help them escort the Michigan Vietnam Memorial Wall on Friday, June 21.

Escort staging is at 2 p.m. at the Manistee VFW Post, 1211 28th St. The escorted Wall will leave at 3 p.m. from the VFW and travel to Little River Casino Resort, 2700 Orchard Highway, where the Michigan Memorial Wall will be on display Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23.
