Support United Way
TRAVERSE CITY — United Way of Northwest Michigan is encouraging Michigan residents to “check off” for the United Way Fund on their Michigan tax return.
Line 4642 on the 2012 tax return form allows people to donate all or part of their Michigan return to the United Way Fund. The funds will be directed to the donor’s local United Way to help provide food, clothing and shelter to low and moderate income families.
BENZONIA — The Benzie Unit of the League of Women Voters-Grand Traverse Area will sponsor a public forum on education titled “Michigan Public Schools: Is Local Control in Question.”
The forum will be held from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Benzie Central High School, 9300 Homestead Road. The speakers will discuss the effects of proposed changes to school funding and the governor’s “Any Time Any Place Any Way Any Pace” education system.
