Pizza Fest

Traverse city — “Pizza Fest! Who’s the Best?!” will feature all-you-can-eat pizza from 11 local pizzerias and a chance to vote for your favorite.

The fundraiser for the Central High School Lacrosse team will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Central High School, 1150 Milliken Dr. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 10 and free for ages 4 and younger.

Medical marijuana

Traverse City — Brad Forrester, local program director of the Cheboygan County affiliate of the Michigan chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, will hold a year-end review seminar for patients, caregivers and medical cannabis supporters.

The event will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. A guest attorney will join the seminar via Skype to answer questions. Attendees also will receive a free copy of Forrester’s 40-page Year End Review guide.

Library program

Alden — Catherine Frerichs will give a program on Papua, New Guinea, Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Alden District Library.

Frerichs grew up in Papua as the daughter of missionaries and taught at a university there in 2011-12. She will talk about the country, with an emphasis on education, at 2 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.

The library is located in the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road. Call 331-4318 for details or if planning to attend.

Seminar on scams

Traverse city — Lowell Jacobsen from Sentry Data Systems will give a seminar on how to combat mail and phone scams Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Village at Bay Ridge.

The program will start at 11 a.m. at the East Building and 1 p.m. at the West Building, 3850 Scenic Ridge. Admission is free and the public is welcome. For details, call 932-9455.
