Lupus support

Traverse City — The Michigan Lupus Foundation Support Group will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Lenten luncheon

Traverse City — The Rev. Paul Busekist from Bethlehem Lutheran Church will share a Lenten message at the Thursday, Feb. 21, Lenten Luncheon sponsored by Church Women United.

The 11:30 a.m. soup and sandwich meal at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster, will be followed by music at noon and the message from 12:30 to 1 p.m. A $3 donation per person is suggested and all proceeds benefit local missions.

Sledding party

Traverse City — The youth and families at Bethlehem Lutheran Church will host a sledding party at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Twin Lakes Park, North Long Lake Road.

The public is invited and should bring sleds and a snack to share. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be provided. For details, call Cheryl Wegener, 258-4658.

Middle East series

Traverse City — Pat Ochodnicky is the first speaker in a five-week series on the Middle East.

Ochodnicky is a retired physician assistant and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Southfield. In 2009, she spent three months as an ecumenical accompanier in the occupied Palestinian Territories of the West Bank. She returns to the West Bank annually and continues to advocate for a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

The program will start at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Christ United Methodist Church, 1249 Three Mile Road. Ochodnicky will describe the goals of EAPPI-A Ministry of Presence and show accompaniers at work. The series will continue on the first four Sundays in March.
