• Organizers of the Art Rapids! fair to be held in June in Elk Rapids are seeking host families for some of the artists who will be participating in the event. Housing needs are for one or two nights: Friday, June 28, and/or Saturday, June 29. Art Rapids! is also looking for volunteer greeters, information booth assistants, artist booth “sitters,” Kid’s Tent workers, teams to assist with setup and tear down and folks to sell raffle tickets during the fair to be held on June 29. If you are interested in volunteering, email Elaine Olson at Emoemo1@aol.com, indicating your shift and job preference. Assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
• The Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency in Traverse City is seeking people to fill Triage Volunteer positions, with complete training. Triage volunteers serve as one of the first agency contacts with customers in need and play an important role in helping people navigate the services available through NMCAA and the community. Volunteers assess customer situations and help connect them to the appropriate staff person and program, among other duties. Triage volunteers should have a positive attitude, be active listeners and demonstrate good rapport with people in poverty and the general public.
NMCAA’s office is located at 3963 Three Mile Road and is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers create their own schedules in advance. NMCAA asks that volunteers serve at least one three-hour shift per week.
