TRAVERSE CITY — A reception from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St., will open an exhibit of recent works by Nicholas Symanski and Tom Duimstra. It will feature music by Russell Gorton, refreshments and a cash bar.

Chocolate fest

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Area District Library will host a visit by local first-time novelist Kimberli A. Bindschatel.

WSH concert

TRAVERSE CITY — The West Senior High School Band’s final concert of the school year will honor Band Director Patricia Brumbaugh, who is retiring after 37 years, including 14 years at WSH.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, in the WSH auditorium, 5376 N. Long Lake Road. A reception will follow and the public is invited.

Music House

ACME — The Music House Museum will open its 31st season with a celebration on Wednesday, May 8.

Book launch

TRAVERSE CITY — Bestselling local author Elizabeth Buzzelli will launch her latest book on Saturday, May 11, at Brilliant Books, 118 E. Front St. The event is free and open to the public.

The book, “Dead Little Dolly,” is the newest titled in Buzzelli’s Emily Kincaid Mystery Series. She will read, sign books and answer questions from 7 to 9 p.m. at the bookstore. Refreshments will be provided and reservations are recommended.

Burlesque show

TRAVERSE CITY — The Bayside Bombshells will perform a theatrical burlesque show titled “7 Sinful Rooms” on Saturday, May 11, at InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St. The doors open at 8 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show. The performance is recommended for ages 18 and older. Tickets are $10 each; call 929-3254.
