n Paul Mocere and Don Scamehorn were inducted into the GTACS Hall of Fame in September. The GTACS Hall of Fame was established in 2007 to recognize individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools and/or society, achieved exceptional success, demonstrated excellence and/or longevity in their field, modeled outstanding integrity, served as a model of faith in action — exemplifying qualities to be emulated by our students, their families and our school community and made outstanding service or general contributions to GTACS.

n Brittany Newell, of Interlochen Arts Academy was this year's recipient of the National High School Fiction Writing Award. She was presented with her award and a check for $5,000 in New York City. The award was presented by The Norman Mailer Center and Writers Colony president and cofounder, Lawrence Schiller, in partnership with the National Council of Teachers of English.
