---- — Winners in the St. Mary Lake Leelanau car raffle were: grand prize choice of 2012 GMC Sierra or $25,000 cash, Jim and Greta Pawlowicz, Suttons Bay; $1,000, Victoria Gits of Denver, Colleen Cassidy, Lake Leelanau and Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kathy Golub, Longboat Key, Fla.; $500, Dr. Steve Kozelko, Traverse City and Peggy Kolarik, Lake Leelanau.

The raffle raised more than $65,000 to help offset the school's annual operating costs, thereby reducing tuition by more than $500 per family.


The Friendly Garden Club of Traverse City honored past presidents and 20-plus year members at a recent luncheon.

Past presidents honored were Maxine Meach, Sophia Bradley, Peg Jonkhoff, Mary Ann Pobuda, Shirley Schneider, Susan Kuschell, Sue Loney, Nancy Johnson, Pat Jean and Cathy Hamilton.

Club members Eunice Pines and Dorry Price were awarded State Life Membership in Michigan Garden Clubs Inc. Sophia Bradley received a certificate for her outstanding contribution to the Friendly Garden Club over the past 30 years.


Pleva International Inc. has announced career moves for three executives.

David Mathia joined the organization April 1 as its president and will oversee operations for its two subsidiaries, Ray Pleva Products Inc. and Cerise Nutraceuticals, LC.

Karen Conte of Phoenix joined Pleva International in July as vice president and general manager. She has more than 35 years of sales, marketing and operational management experience.

Cindy Pleva-Weber joined the organization in July as its chief information officer. She brings a wealth of cherry industry knowledge and project management experience.
