Residents at The Cottages at Grand Traverse Pavilions are enjoying the addition of two new aquariums and a kitten as the result of a recent $10,000 grant from Banfield Charitable Trust to the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation.

The Portland, Ore.-based Banfield Charitable Trust offers grants twice annually to nonprofit organizations whose programs help provide a direct solution to avoid surrender or separation of companion pets from individuals or families. The Banfield grant provides help for the care of pets who live in the assisted living community at Evergreen, Hawthorn and Willow Cottages.

The Michigan Primary Care Association, a nonprofit association representing Michigan Health Centers, honored two leaders from East Jordan Family Health Center for their exemplary service.

Marcia Gibbard, vice president of East Jordan Family Health Center's Board of Directors, received the Ralph C. Mills Health Center Board Member of the Year award. Gibbard has committed herself to learning the responsibilities of Health Center governance and has risen to leadership roles both at the local and state level.

Dennis Skrocki, chief financial officer at the East Jordan Family Health Center, received a distinguished service award. He has immersed himself in adapting his accounting and finance skills to the health care arena for the past five years.
