Climate Lobby meets

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northern Michigan chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby will meet on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the Michigan Land Use Institute, 148 E. Front St., suite 301.

Jonathan Haidt, author of “The Righteous Mind” and “The Happiness Hypothesis” will be the guest speaker. He will discuss how America became so politically polarized as a nation and how to restore a more cooperative system of government. For details, visit


Little League benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Little League and the Old Mission Peninsula Park Commission will hold a fund-raising dinner Monday, Feb. 3, at the Boathouse restaurant, to raise money toward the upgrade of baseball fields at Bowers Harbor Park for future Little League games.

A $25,000 donation has kicked off the fund raising and if fund-raising efforts raise an additional $50,000, the donor will match it with another $25,000. The goal is to raise $50,000 by April 1.

The 6:30 p.m. meal includes four courses, each paired with a local wine from Bowers Harbor Vineyard and Chateau Grand Traverse. The cost is $50 per person. For dinner reservations, call the restaurant, 223-2030.
