FRANKFORT — A Wellness Arts Open House will be hosted Saturday, Jan. 18.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Conservation District’s Community Stewardship Series will sponsor a guided snowshoe hike on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The hike will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. around the Brown Bridge Quiet Area and the East Creek Reserve. Participants should meet at the Brown Bridge pole barn. Directions will be sent upon registration. The cost is $10 per person and snowshoes will be provided.
Registration is required and may be done at www.natureiscalling.org. The activity is recommended for ages 10 and older.
Skate swap fundraiser
BEULAH — L’Chayim Delicatessen will host a Skate Swap/Donate/Sale on Saturday, Jan. 18, to benefit the Benzonia Ice Rink.
There is a suggested $5 donation per pair of skates for individuals swapping skates. Individuals may drop off skates anytime and receive a ticket to swap. Ticketholders will be able to shop from 8-10 a.m. the day of the event. Shopping for non-ticketholders is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A minimum $15 donation is suggested for shoppers without skates to swap. Additional donations for the rink also are appreciated.
Unclaimed skates may be picked up from 2-3 p.m. the day of the event. Skates not claimed by 3 p.m. will be donated to Benzie Area Christian Neighbors. Participants in the event also receive a coupon for 10 percent off any purchase at L’Chayim the day of the event.
Vets for Peace
TRAVERSE CITY — The Veterans for Peace group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the lower level at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front St., where the organization meets on the third Saturday of each month. All veterans or supports of Veterans for Peace are welcome.
OM wine warm up
TRAVERSE CITY — The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and Old Mission Peninsula-based businesses will warm things up Saturday, Jan. 18, with the annual Winter Warm Up wine trail event.
Event-goers can sample comfort food paired with wine at each of the seven participating Old Mission wineries. The $15 cost per person includes a souvenir mug, which doubles as an admission ticket, and specials at participating Old Mission restaurants and businesses.

MLK Peace Day
TRAVERSE CITY — The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will offer special programs and activities focusing on tolerance and peace in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Activities will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the museum, 13240 S. West Bay Shore Dr., and include age-appropriate experiences and messages about anti-bullying and peaceful communication. Activities are included in museum admission. TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Musicale is accepting applications for a $1,000 award to graduating high school seniors who have won one of the organization’s scholarships in a previous year.
Criteria for the Dr. and Mrs. Richard Schilling Scholarship are that applicants must be graduating seniors, be previous Musicale scholarship winners, plan to attend a college or university to pursue music and major or minor in music studies. Applicants must submit a five to 10 minute video of them performing and a 300-word essay describing the impact of music on their lives and hopes for the outcome of further music education. Selected applicants also must perform in a live audition if chosen from their video and essay and participate in an interview/critique with judges at the audition.
