TRAVERSE CITY — The 2013 Grand Traverse Musicale scholarship winners will perform on Thursday, June 13.
The program will start at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road. “Tea and Treats” will follow, with a chance to meet the winners, their parents and Musicale members. MESICK — Mesick Historical Museum will have Cemetery books available for individuals to look up information on where and when family members were buried in Mesick area cemeteries.
The books are on loan to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, only. There will be information from Harrietta, Boon, Antioch, Mesick, Colfax, Cornell, and Wexford County Index plus obituary listings for many years.

Ollie the Otter
TRAVERSE CITY — All area children are invited to a birthday party on Saturday, June 15, for Ollie the Otter.
The celebration will be hosted from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road. There will be cake, a visit with Ollie and a walk on the nature center’s trails. Admission is free and children must attend with an adult. For details, visit www.natureiscalling.org.
ACME — The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa will sponsor a summer-long day camp for children ages 6 to 12.

Day of Action
TRAVERSE CITY — United Way of Northwestern Michigan will sponsor Day of Action events to celebrate literacy.
Events will be held Monday, June 17, at the Leland Public Library; Thursday, June 20, at the Kingsley Public Library; Friday, June 21, at the Kalkaska Children’s Garden; Monday, June 24, at the Alden Historic Depot; and Tuesday, June 25, at the Beulah Public Library. All events will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and include crafts, children’s activities and story time at 11 a.m. Literacy kits also will be distributed to families and children in attendance. Help Carter’s Kids
ACME — The third annual charity golf tournament to benefit “Carter’s Kids” will be held Aug. 9, at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. Proceeds benefit the “Carter’s Kids,” a nonprofit organization founded by Traverse City native and HGTV host Carter Oosterhouse that builds community playgrounds across America.
