Christmas concert

BEAR LAKE — Dennis Gwizdala will give a Christmas concert during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 16, at Bear Lake Christian Church, 221 Bear Lake Road. The public is invited.

'Art Bomb' entries

TRAVERSE CITY — Interested artists have until Saturday, Dec. 15, to submit entries for a collaborative show at Right Brain Brewery.

Grand Traverse Art Bomb will be on display Jan. 5 through March 30 at the brewery, 225 E. 16th St. It is designed for artists working in all media to display and sell their work commission-free and network with other artists and businesses.

An application fee of $50 will be charged to avoid typical gallery commission prices. For details or to submit artwork, call 494-6828.

OTP fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — Garden Grounds, 1000 Milliken Dr., will dedicate Saturday, Dec. 15, to raising funds and awareness for Old Town Playhouse's final performance at Swingshift and the Stars.

The new business features offers coffee, sandwiches, local scones, healthy snacks and shopping for Michigan-made treats. From from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Garden Grounds will donate 50 percent of its proceeds from sales to Old Town Playhouse's Swingshift team of OTP Board member Craig Rosenberg and professional dance partner Liz Reincke.

Paint to music

TRAVERSE CITY — Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to create paintings inspired by Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The free workshop will be held at Blackbird Arts, 1485 Barlow St. The artwork will be shown on a big screen during the Traverse Symphony Orchestra's Family Concert on Sunday, Jan. 13. Workshop signup is required; email or call 421-8085.

Sound Sculpture

TRAVERSE CITY — Left Foot Charley Winery will sponsor the fourth annual Phil Kline's Unsilent Night Holiday Sound Sculpture in the Village at Grand Traverse Commons.

The free, outdoor participatory sound sculpture features roving boom boxes, MP3 players, iPhones, iPads and laptop computers. The Unsilent Night app is available at iTunes store. Participants should bring their own portable musical device and reservations are required. After reserving a spot, participants will receive a link for downloading to an MP3 or a cassette/CD will be reserved for pickup at Left Foot Charley at the event.

Participants will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Left Foot Charley. The sculpture starts at 6:30 p.m. and participants should plan to devote 45 minutes to the musical walk through and about The Village grounds. The event concludes at the winery for free hot cider, cookies and vintage Christmas tunes played on the old Wurlitzer jukebox. K2 edibles happy hour eats, wine and hard cider will be available for purchase.
