Library hosts author Parish

ELK RAPIDS — The Elk Rapids Library will host an evening with P.J. Parrish, the author of 10 Louis Kincaid and Joe Frye thrillers.

The event will start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Elk Rapids Historical Museum. Small donations will be accepted and refreshments will be served.

Community Film Series

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northwestern Michigan College Community Film series continues on Thursday, Dec. 5, with “Our Fires Still Burn: The Native American Experience.”

The 60-minute documentary examines the lives of contemporary Native American role models living in the Midwest. It will be shown at 7 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. A panel discussion with the filmmaker follows.

OM history group potluck

TRAVERSE CITY — The Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society invites the community to its holiday potluck and caroling on Thursday, Dec. 5.

‘Small World’on display

TRAVERSE CITY — Local artist Charles R. Murphy will host his 19th annual “Small World” show and sale on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The show and sale of Murphy’s miniature watercolor paintings will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr. A portion of the proceeds will go to the museum to help fund schoolchildren’s visits to the museum’s exhibits. Call 947-6285 to learn more.

Music ‘On the Porch’ slated

TRAVERSE CITY — Robin Lee Berry and Glenn Wolff are the next performers in Sleder’s Family Tavern’s “On the Porch” concert series.

The duo will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the tavern, 717 Randolph St. Advance tickets are $15 at Sleder’s, Oryana Natural Foods Market, Brilliant Books and Zamar Guitar. Tickets are $20 at the door. For details, call 947-9213.
