Pancake breakfast

FIFE LAKE — American Legion Post 219 will serve a pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 12.

The meal will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the American Legion, 10283 M-186. The cost is $6.50 for adults, $4 for children and free for World War II veterans.

Cottage Coffee

TRAVERSE CITY — Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, May 14, Cottage Coffee at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

Charlevoix will discuss weather trends in northern Michigan at 10 a.m. at Hawthorn Cottage on the Pavilions campus. The program is free and open to the public. For details, call 932-3027 or email pdeagostino@gtpavilions.org.

Travelogue

TRAVERSE CITY — Jeannette Wildman and her husband Bob Downes will share their travel adventures in a presentation titled "Seven Months Around the World."

The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Traverse Area District Library Main Branch, 610 Woodmere Ave. There is no charge and the public is invited. For details, visit www.tadl.org.

Roller Derby

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Roller Derby will open its home season Saturday, May 18, at Howe Arena at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.

Starting at 6 p.m., the Toxic Cherries will bout against the Southern Belles and the Cherry Bombs will meet the Southcentral Michigan Renegade Rollergirls. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and free for children 10 and younger. They are available at Ben Franklin, Lifer Skate Shop, InsideOut Gallery, Oryana Natural Foods and at www.brownpapertickets.com. Fund-raising activities at the bout will benefit the Grand Traverse Health Clinic.
