---- — BEULAH — The Darcy Library of Beulah and Benzonia Public Library are launching a series of monthly programs featuring regional authors and their works. The two libraries have joined in planning the programs that will bring a variety of writers “up close and personal” and that encourage local readers to explore different genres and new books.
The first “Off the Page” program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, May 10. Author Jack Driscoll will discuss his latest publication titled, “The World of a Few Minutes Ago.” The book is a collection of 10 short stories, which are all set in northern Michigan.
During the summer months, “Off the Page” presentations include Bryan Gruley, author of the “Starvation Lake” mysteries, on Friday, June 14; Mardi Link, who will introduce her newest book, “Bootstrapper: From Broke to Badass on a Northern Michigan Farm” on July 19; and Heather Shumaker, author of “It’s OK Not to Share…And Other Renegade Rules for Raising Competent and Compassionate Kids” Aug. 9.
The programs will take place at the Darcy Library in Beulah. Admission is free, with donations at the door encouraged.
