Recovery walk

TRAVERSE CITY — STONESHOUSE, a local recovery center, will sponsor a recovery walk and rally Sunday afternoon in honor of National Recovery Month. The event is open to anybody, including families and will begin at The River at Clinch Park.

Walkers will process along Front Street before meeting at the park for food. The walk runs from 1:30-4:30 p.m. For more information, call Greg Stone at 883-3217.

Fort Fit opening

TRAVERSE CITY — Fit For You Health Club will hold a grand opening and extravaganza for its new Fort Fit functional fitness playground on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Fort Fit, 1238 S. Garfield Ave., in the former Larry’s Pool and Patio building. There will be fitness class demonstrations, a nutritional seminar, diabetes and physical therapy presentations, a record-setting challenge for rope climb, pull-ups and prowler push, and live music.

A $10 donation per person is encouraged, but not required, and all proceeds will benefit Gold Star Families and Blue Star Mothers of the Northern Michigan Veterans Coalition. For details, call 922-7285.

Health care forum

BEULAH — The Benzie Unit League of Women Voters will sponsor a health care forum on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. at the Benzie Government Center meeting room. It will address concerns about the costs and charges in health care and will include a panel discussion. There will be time for questions and answers. For details, call 383-4555.

Zonta special meeting

TRAVERSE CITY — Zonta Club of Traverse City will welcome Zonta District 15 Governor Karen Armaly to a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The organization will meet from noon-1 p.m. at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St. Armaly will discuss current Zonta International projects. The cost for lunch is $13 and reservations are requested.
